Industrial Machine & Tool has been solving manufacturing challenges for over five decades. Founded in 1969, our company has built its reputation by taking on the projects that others often won't—complex repairs, custom machinery, precision components, and one-of-a-kind solutions that keep businesses moving.
Our story is deeply personal.
In December of 1972, our current owner walked through the doors of IMT as a 17-year-old apprentice—the company's second employee. After spending several years learning the trade, life led him to northeast Indiana, where he continued building his engineering and manufacturing experience with General Electric and later Magnavox Government & Industrial Electronics, designing and building military and air traffic control equipment.
Then in 1991, an unexpected phone call changed everything.
When he learned that Industrial Machine & Tool was for sale, he partnered with his brother to purchase the company, officially becoming its owner in February of 1992. Since then, the mission has remained remarkably simple:

Today, IMT is far more than a traditional machine shop.
We specialize in custom machining, reverse engineering, precision manufacturing, equipment repair, and the design and construction of custom machinery for industries throughout the region. From life-testing equipment and pressure testing systems to destructive testing fixtures and production machinery, we develop solutions tailored to each customer's unique needs.
When replacement parts are obsolete, unavailable, or months away from delivery, we can often reverse engineer the component, document it, manufacture it, and help get your equipment back into operation quickly.
